My name is Cuauhtemoc Escarcega. I was born in August 21st, 1981 in Mexico City. Zodiac Sign: Leo. And I'm trying to be an artist.

I'm not good when talking about myself; I find it hard and sometimes narcistic.

Art wasn't a priority for. In fact, I wasn't attracted to it. I think I started this by luck. I learned the basics thanks to my father's influence who has incredible artistic and photographic ability. I grew up seeing him paint and take photographs, but it didn't attract me much.

Years after, I find myself studying Industrial Robotics in IPN here in Mexico. I was having a normal day when i was asked to do research in a thing called "the Internet". I did not have any experience with it, much less know how to use it.

Months after that experience with the Internet, I decided to stop studying at my school. I wasn't fond of Mathematics, Thermodynamics, Calculus, CNC machines. I love metals, though, and all those subjects have helped me a lot, that's true, but I just couldn't imagine myself doing it for the rest of my life.

It was a hard decision because in my country artists starve to death, but I decided to put my heart in the things I like to do. After I dropped out of school I started going to specialization courses in E-commerce, Graphic Design and Networking at CIBE that allowed me to understand the tools I normally use to do my work. I want to study again, but it would have to be something related to Art because of the things I know are product of intense research and practice. I'm self-taught on these subjects and have also learned from my friends.

Art is my passion now, in all its forms. I find it beautiful because it allows us all to express ourselves through written, audio and visual media.

My style is what can be called "Dark", I was first influenced by a video clip, it was "Sober" from the band Tool, I was really shocked and impressed with all the visuals and the story behind it, years later decided to keep that dark line after watching a video directed by Floria Sigismondi.

Dark art appeals to me because of its shock factor -- the image it hits you with such force that it is inevitable for it to stop running through your mind time and time again, making it difficult for it to be forgotten or ignored. That's one of my goals: to express myself and create a sense of impact in others.

I really like to paint, but I love to take photographs. I'm currently trying to learn how to handle light, but that's going to take a while.
